Ramadan 2014 ~ Day 1-The Month of Forgiveness

ASA,

I wanted to share with you a few lectures I have listened to and I thought they would be of good benefit.  Ramadan is a time to reflect and to work on our hearts.  These lectures have helped to put that focus there.

The first lecture I have for you today is by Nouman Ali Khan.  He is the founder and CEO of Bayyinah Institute for Quran and Arabic Studies.  In this lecture he discusses during this month of Ramadan we should spend our time on the Quran.   Only thing yo should do is what will bring you closer to Allah(SWT).  We should put our other studies to the side(which are very important) and spend this time solely for the Quran.  This time should be dedicated to reading and listening to tafseer  lectures of the Quran.

He tells us to make goals.  He gives small steps we can take to achieve this.  He tells us to focus on 3 surahs -Al-Musabbihat.  Surat Jumu’a, Surat Munafiqun, and Surat Taghaboon.  He talks about how these surahs will help your Iman.  These surahs are  about a muslim ummah losing their iman and Allah(SWT) to fix their iman and make it strong.

For a collection of all his lectures visit nakcollection.com.  It has mp3 downloads, tafsir and transcripts of some of his lectures.

The second lecture is by Dr. Tawfique Chowdhury .  He is the chairman and CEO of Mercy Mission. Being a practicing doctor he deals with patients who have cancer.

He tells a story of one of his patients who gave him a letter.  The patient knew this would be his last Ramadan.  Dr. Tawfique Chowdhury shared the letter in this lecture.  This lecture will bring tears to your eyes and have you questioning yourself.  Am I doing all I can?

What if this is my last Ramadan? – Tawfique Chowdhury

And finally the last lecture is by Mufti Menk.  A couple of years ago he gave a series of lecture on the tafsir of the Quran for the whole of Ramadan.

Hope they are of benefit.
