Surat Al-'Aadiyaat

ASA,

Today I have for you Surat Al-‘Aadiyaat Notebooking Pages to show you.  I have been making Surah Notebooking Pages for older students or adults to write down what they learn about each surah.  I have different pages for you to choose from.

There is a page with Surat Al-‘Aadiyaat, one for hadith, Tafsir, Lessons Learned, word analysis page, grammar, notes page, asbaab an-nazool.  You and/or your child can use all or any page which suits you best at your level of learning.

Surat Al-‘Aadiyaat

    Points to remember:

  1.  Some scholars say it was revealed in Mecca, others say Madina.  Allah(SWT) knows best.
  2. How many verses are there in Surat Al-‘Aadiyaat? 11 verses
  3. It is Surah Number 100
  4. This surah is named after the word in the first ayah, Al-‘Aadiyaat which means those who run/race.
  5. One thing that is special about this surah is it is one of seven suwar that is named after animals.  In this case it is about horses.
  6. The seven suwar named after animals are:
  7. Surat Al-‘Aadiyaat (those that run/race, ex. Horses)
  8. Surat Al-Ankaboot (Spider)
  9. Surat Al-‘An’aam (Cattle)
  10. Surat Al-Baqarah (Cow)
  11. Surat Al-Fil (Elephant)
  12. Surat An-Naml (Ant)
  13. Surat An-Nahl (Bee)
  14. There are other animals mentioned in the Quran that do not have surahs named after them. (Camels, donkeys, mules, birds, sheep, snakes, lions, dogs, pigs, apes, flies, locusts, worms, lice, frogs and fish.
  15. The story behind the surah is called Asbaab An-Nazool.
  16. The story behind this surah is about the Mujaahedeen(Muslim soldiers) and the munafiqoon(hypocrites)
  17. The story is the Prophet(SAAS) sent an army to fight a tribe called Banu Kinanah.  An entire month had passed and the Prophet(SAAS) had not heard from them.  Usually, a leader sends a messenger to let the Prophet(SAAS) know if a battle had been fought and if the Muslims had won or not.  But there was no messenger this time and the Muslims began to worry.  The only ones that were not worried were the Munafiqoon, the hypocrites.  A hypocrite is one who(in this case) say they are Muslim, but they do not act like or love Muslims.  They were greedy for money and the things of this life.  They were ungrateful to Allah(SWT).  So Allah(SWT) sent a message in Surat Al-‘Aadiyaat.  This surah tells the munaafeeqoon that loving money and the worldly things is not good.  Allah(SWT) warns them that on Yawm Al-Qiyamah Allah(SWT) will know everything that they did and everything that is in their hearts.
  18. We learn three things in this surah
  19. Do not be greedy
  20. Do not be ungrateful
  21. Do not forget Yawm Al-Qiyaamah
  22. The four things Allah(SWT) tells us about the horses are:
  23. They are fast; they make sparks with their hooves
  24. They are early; ready at Fajr to fight
  25. They are strong; creating dust when they run
  26. They are brave; they go straight to the enemy
  27. Discuss vocabulary words
  28. العَدِيَتِ           ~  those that run/race(horses of jihad)
  29. صُبحًا              ~   morning
  30.  كَنُودٌ ~  ungrateful
  31. شَهِيدٌ              ~  witness
  32. شَدِيدٌ              ~  strong/severe
  33. الصُّدُورِ           ~  chest
