Surat Al-Balad Notebooking Pages

ASA Everyone,

Today I have for you the Surat Al-Balad Notebooking Pages. There are some beneficial talks to listen to, to help with the understanding of the surah.

Listen to this lecture series of Surat Al-Balad by Nouman Ali Khan on the Bayyinah Website.   It is under the podcast tab.  Here are the links.

Surat Al-Balad ~ Part 1

Surat Al-Balad ~ Part 2

I have made different worksheets to go along with the surah. Each worksheet is labeled with a different topic and your student takes notes on the corresponding worksheet.

This surah is number 90 in the Quran. It was revealed in Mecca. It is called a “Makki” surah meaning it was revealed in the beginning of his prophethood before the Hijrah.  It gets its name from the first ayah, the word Al-Balad meaning The City. This surah is about hardship. Our journey to Jannah is hard but if we follow Allah’s guidance then we reach Jannah,we will be in ease forever. FYI-The Madini surahs were revealed later in his Prophethood, and those surahs are usually longer in length and are about law and society.

Surah Summary:

In this surah Allah swears by two sets of circumstances. The first set He swears by is Mecca and Prophet Muhammad(SAAS). Mecca is the mother of all cities and the Prophet(SAAS) suffered great hardship in that city.

Then He swears by Prophet Adam(AS) and the sons and daughters of Adam(AS). Adam(AS) is the father of all humankind and his sons and daughters(meaning us) face hardship in their lives.

Allah(SWT) swears by these to show us life is hard and the journey to Jannah is hard but if we follow Allah’s guidance we will be rewarded.

Since this is for older kids, depending on the age of your child or student, you can use the Al-Balad minibook or they can research their own important facts and hadith on the surah.  In the download I have included facts or points to remember along with practice writing of the surah.  There are six pages where the student can write facts they have learned onto the corresponding pages to help them keep things organized.

Please check out Al-Islam.org’s website for a detailed explanation of the surah so your students can write and reflect on it.

You can have the kids hole punch these and put them in a binder.  Do what you feel is best for your kids or students.   If you find beneficial talks or websites, please share in the comments below.  InshaAllah it is of benefit to you and your family and classroom.

I will be making notebook pages for all of Juzz Amma InshaAllah.  So please keep a look out.
