I have made different worksheets to go along with the surah. Each worksheet is labeled with a different topic and your student takes notes on the corresponding worksheet.

Basic Facts about Surat Ash-Shams:

This surah is number 98 in the Quran.  It was revealed in Medina.  It was revealed after the Hijrah. This surah gets its name from the first ayah Al-Bayyinah which means The Clear Evidence. This surah is also known by the name of “Surah Lam Yakoon.”

This surah is about the books and Prophets that Allah has sent to guide us. Those who follow them are the best of creation and those you do not are the worst if creation.

Special

One reason this surah is so special is because Allah the Prophet(SAAS) instructions to recite it to one of the companions. His name was Ubayy Ibn Ka’b(RA).

When Ubayy(RA) heard this he cried. It was such an honor to be mentioned by Allah.

About Ubayy Ibn Ka’b(RA)

• He was a sahaba-a companion of the Prophet(SAAS)
• He was an ansaar. One of the Muslims from Median known as the helpers.
• He was a Moojahid-he participated in many battles
• He was the Prophet’s Scribe-He would write the verses of the Quran down as the Prophet received them.
• He was the Best Reciter of the Quran.
• He was a Hufadh-He memorized the entire Quran.
• He wrote a Mushaf- He wrote a copy of the Quran
