Surat Al-Inshiqaaq Lapbook
I have another fun surah lapbook to show you today. Surat Al-Inshiqaaq! InshaAllah you and your children find it of benefit.
Basic Facts about Surat Al-Inshiqaaq:
- This surah is number 84 in the Quran.
- It was revealed in Mecca.
- It gets its name from the word “oon-shaq-qut” which means to break apart and it is used in the first ayah. This word tells us that the sky and the earth will break open on the Day of Judgement.
- This surah tells us how to be successful.
- This surah tells us about receiving our book of deeds. Some will receive their book in their right hand and some in their left.
Sujood At-Tilaawah:
- This means prostration of recitation.
- The Prophet(SAAS) used to make this sujood.
- In ayah 21 Allah says that the disbelievers do not prostrate when the Quran is recited.
- There are 15 places in the Quran where we make Sujood At-Tilaawah.
- It is marked by a line or an arched symbol.
- It is recommended we do sujood when we come across these ayahs, so it is Mustahab(highly recommended) and not wajib which means it is mandatory.
- It is performed by facing the Kabah and saying Allahu Akbar, make sujood and say Subhan Rabbi Al-‘Alaa 3x. You can make the dua of prostration as well if you would like.
- The dua’ is “Allaahumma laka sajadtu wa bika aamantu wa laka aslamtu, sajada wajhi lilladhi khalaqahu wa sawwarahu wa shaqqa sam’ahu wa basarahu bi hawlihi wa quwwatihi, tabaarak Allaahu ahsan al-khaaliqeen (O Allaah, unto You I have prostrated and in You I have believed, and unto You I have submitted. My face has prostrated before Him Who created it and fashioned it, and brought forth its faculties of hearing and seeing by His Might and Power. Blessed is Allaah, the Best of creators).” (Muslim 1290)
Yawm Al-Qiyaamah:
- On this day the sky and earth will break apart.
- Everyone will get their book of deeds on this day.
- Those who have been good will get their book in their right hand.
- Those who were bad will get their book behind their back
- Allah tells us that the creation goes through stages, just as the earth from daylight to evening and as the moon goes through phases. Just as we are “traveling” in this life until we reach our ultimate destination, we are going through the phases of life, being born, working in life and then death.
The ages for these lapbooks:
This lapbook is meant to be used with the Ad-Duha Institute Mini Tafseer Books. You can purchase the Surat Al-Inshiqaaq mini-book or the Surat Al-Inshiqaaq e-book. Be sure to click the correct book format when purchasing. You can buy each book separately or as a set. Check out the pages of the books here. I gave a book to each child so that they can color and participate by reading along with me.
These lapbooks can be used for level grades 1-7 depending on the age of your child/student will depend on which minibooks you use. If your child/students are on the younger side you can just choose the basic minibooks about the surah and make a smaller lapbook. And then as they get older you can incorporate more minibooks about the surah that can then be added to their lapbook.
If you have older students you can have them read and do the minibook themselves. They can either cut and paste the answers into the mini books or they can write it in themselves. You can give them a quiz after a review to see if they have fully understood and retained the information. I will be sharing a study guide and quiz later so be sure to keep a look out.
If you have younger readers you can read it together as a group and then you can help them cut and paste the answers inside the mini books. The very young may not be able to do all the mini books. You can pick and choose which ones you would like your students to do. Another option is for the parent/teacher to cut out all mini books and paste them into the lapbook so it is ready for the younger student to use. Then the student can paste the answer inside the minibook. This way the parent or teacher can focus on spending time going over and explaining the surah.
If this is too easy for your older students then you can soon check out my Surat A-Burooj Notebooking Pages where they can write out what they know and learned from the surah.
