Basic Surah Summary:

Allah(SWT) swears by the angels who have very important jobs. One of the articles of faith as a Muslim is to believe in the angels. Some people do not believe in angels and Allah(SWT) sets the record straight in this surah. The angels are His servants and they do what they are told. Allah(SWT) tells us in this surah the 5 types of angels and the angel who will blow the horn on the Day of Yawm Al-Qiyamah. Angel Israfeel will blow the horn twice. The first time will be deafening blast and will scare everyone to death. After a period of time he will commanded to blow the horn a second time. Only Allah(SWT) knows when the second blow will occur. At the time of the second blow all of creation will be resurrected and mountains will turn to dust. The bad/wicked people their hearts will tremble with fear realizing this day is real. They will realize there is no escape for the coming judgement and their judgement. Allah(SWT) tells us inthis surah that those who do bad are not at all concerned with this day. They think that it is impossible for us to be resurrected. They are not listening to what they were told, instead they would not listen and became arrogant.

Allah(SWT) asks us in this surah if we have heard of the story of Musa(AS) when Allah(SWT) called to the sacred valley of Tuwa. Allah(SWT) tells Prophet Musa(AS) to go back to Egypt to talk to Phirown. He went with his brother Haroon(AS). Prophet Musa(AS) showed Phirown miraculous signs to convince him of the message.

Miraculous Signs of Prophet Musa(AS):

  • The staff turning into a serpent(7:107)
  • Musa’s(AS) hand becoming white(7:108)
  • Phirown and his people see years of drought and a shortage of crops(7:130)
  • Phirown was powerless to harm Musa(AS)(
  • Floods(7:133)
  • Locusts(7:133)
  • Lice(7:133)
  • Frogs(7:133)
  • Water turning to blood(7:133)

Despite all of these signs, Phirown turned away in arrogance because he did not want to give up his power. He wanted his people to worship him as a god. He wanted to prove Musa(AS) wrong, so called upon his advisors who appointed magicians to have a “battle” of magic with Musa(AS) in front of his entire kingdom. At this time he told his people(79:24), ” I am your most exalted lord”. “Allah(SWT) seized Phirown in an exemplary punishment for the last and first transgression.”(79:25)

Allah(SWT) preserved his body as a sign so no one would forget what happens to those who deny Allah’s(SWT) message.(10:91-92) Allah(SWT) mentions this story as a reminder for those who deny Yawm Al-Qiyamah.

Allah(SWT) asks us in ayah 27, “Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah(WT) constructed it.” ALlah(SWT) is telling us He created things much greater than us like the sky, earth, water so many things. Just look around us.

Allah(SWT) ends the surah by going back to Yawm Al-Qiyamah and how Jahannam will be put forth for all to see. Allah(SWT) tells us those who have transgressed and preferred the life of this world, hellfire will be their refuge. And for those who feared Allah(SWT) and prevented themselves from inclining to their desires, Heaven will be their refuge.

People would ask the Prophet(SAAS) to tell them when exactly is the Hour(42) – (of the Day of Judgement). In the last few ayahs of the surah Allah(SWT) tells them that the hour is with Him alone and they should instead be worried about preparing for that day. That day will come suddenly and it will feel like our lives were very short-the time from sunrise to noon.

The ages for these lapbooks:

This lapbook can be used alongside the Ad-Duha Institute Mini Tafseer Books.  They are a wondeful series of books for young children. I recommend you check out their website. You can purchase the Surat Al-Infitaar mini-book or the Surat Al-Infitaar e-book.   Be sure to click the correct book format when purchasing.  You can buy each book separately or as a set.  Check out the pages of the books here.  I gave a book to each child so that they can color and participate by reading along with me.

These lapbooks can be used for level grades, I would say from maybe 4th-6/7 depending on the age of your child/student and what they are able to do.  If your child/students are on the younger side you can just choose the basic minibooks about the surah and make a smaller lapbook. And then as they get older you can incorporate more minibooks about the surah that can then be added to their lapbook.

If you have older students you can have them read and do the minibook themselves.  They can either cut and paste the answers into the mini books or they can write it in themselves.  You can give them a quiz after a review to see if they have fully understood and retained the information.  I will be sharing a study guide and quiz later so be sure to keep a look out.

If you have younger readers you can read it together as a group and then you can help them cut and paste the answers inside the mini books.  The very young may not be able to do all the mini books.  You can pick and choose which ones you would like your students to do.  Another option is for the parent/teacher to cut out all mini books and paste them into the lapbook so it is ready for the younger student to use.  Then the student can paste the answer inside the minibook. This way the parent or teacher can focus on spending time going over and explaining the surah.

If this is too easy for your older students then you can soon check out my Surat An-Naazi’aat Notebooking Pages where students/adults can write out what they know and learned from the surah.

I will be coming out with a new series of surah lapbooks for Pre-k through maybe 2nd to 3rd grade. It will be a simplified version of my lapbooks, but it will give them exposure to the basic facts about the surah so they can learn along with their siblings or students. So be sure to keep a look out. I will post it on Instagram when they are ready to be released, so be sure to follow me so you do not miss out on any new content!

How long will it take to complete this lapbook?

It all depends on you and your family.  Older students might finish in a few days to a week and younger students may take a couple of weeks or more.  Do not feel pressured to finish in a certain time.  Pace yourself and your kids to what best suits your family.

What is included in this lapbook?

  • Facts about the surah mini books
  • Vocabulary mini book
  • Trace the arabic letters of the surah
  • Tafseer mini book
  • Translation mini book
  • What you should say before reciting Quran mini book
  • 38 other mini books

In the above photo, because the surahs are starting to get a bit longer, I have made this option for you if you decide not to use the minibooks inside the lapbook. You can use this option and just staple each packet together and place in the back pocket of the lapbook. Check out my Surat An-Naazi’aat lapbook video to see how this is shown.
