I have another fun lapbook to share with you today.  Surat Al-Qadr Lapbook.  InshaAllah you and your children find it of benefit.

Surah Summary:

This surah is a very special surah because it tells us about a blessed night in the month of Ramadan.  It is a night of immense blessings and rewards.  The Quran was revealed on a special night in Ramadan.  It was revealed on Laylatul-Qadr.  On this night Allah forgives us for all our previous sins.  This surah is surah #97 of the Quran.  It was revealed in Mecca.

The Quran is kept on protected tablets in Jannah.  No one can change them.  The tablets have a special name, they are called Al-Lowhim-Mahfooz.  This means “The Protected Tablets.”  When the Quran was ready to be revealed Allah told the angels to bring the Quran from Jannah to a special place in the lowest heaven.  This special in Heaven is called Baytul-‘Izzah.  Which means “House of Might”.  The angels brought the Quran to Baytul-‘Izzah on the best night in Ramadan which is Laylatul-Qadr.  Angel Gibrael brought the Qurah to the Prophet(SAAS) over a period of 23 years.  The Quran was completed in the year of his death.

A few reasons why this night is so special:

• The Quran was revealed on this night
• This night is better than 1000 months.
• The angels do special jobs on this night
• On this night, it is peaceful until the dawn

 There is a special dua you want to make sure you say as much as possible. It is

 

 اللهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ العَفوَ فَاعفُ عَنِّي

 

Which means “O Allah! Verily, You are the Oft Forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive me.”

Asbaab An-Nazool

The story behind this surah is the Prophet(SAAS) told his companions a story about a soldier who lived a long time ago.  This soldier was a soldier for 1000 months! That is 83 years!  So he must have become a soldier at a very young age and stayed a soldier into his old age.  The Sahaba were amazed by this.  This surah tells them and us that Allah had something even more amazing.

This lapbook is meant to be used with the Ad-Duha Institute Mini Tafseer Books.  You can purchase the Surat Al-Qadr mini book or the Surat Al-Qadr e-book.    Be sure to click the correct book format when purchasing.  You can buy each book separately or as a set.  Check out the pages of the books here.  I gave a book to each child so that they can color and participate by reading along with me.

These lapbooks can be used at the elementary level grades 1-6.  If you have older students you can have them read and do the minbook themselves.  They can either cut and paste the answers into the mini books or they can write it in themselves.  You can give them a quiz after a review to see if they have fully understood and retained the information.  I will be sharing a study guide and quiz later so be sure to keep a look out.

If you have younger readers you can read it together as a group and then you can help them cut and paste the answers inside the mini books.  The very young may not be able to do all the mini books.  You can pick and choose which ones you would like your students to do.  Another option is for the parent/teacher to cut out all mini books and paste them into the lapbook so it is ready for the younger student to use.  Then the parent or teacher can focus on spending time going over and explaining the surah.

How long will it take to complete this lapbook?

It all depends on you and your family.  Older students might finish in a few days to a week and younger students may take a couple of weeks or more.  Do not feel pressured to finish in a certain time.  Pace yourself and your kids to what best suits your family.
